Monel K-500 UNS N05500 High Temperature Alloys Oil and gas production safety lifts and valves
Monel K-500 (UNS designation N05500) alloy has corrosion resistance comparable to Monel 400, but has higher mechanical strength and hardness. The increased properties are obtained by adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base, and by heating under controlled conditions so that submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) are precipitated throughout the matrix. The thermal processing used to effect precipitation is commonly called age hardening or aging. It has good hot corrosion resistance and long-term organizational stability. It’s mainly used to manufacture turbine blades and gas turbine blades on aero engines with operating temperatures below 750°C, and used to manufacture fasteners and springs on ships, pumps and valve parts on chemical equipment, and also scraper blades on paper-making equipment, etc.
