INTRODUCTION

Hastelloy C22 is based on C276, which increases the chromium content of the alloy and reduces the molybdenum and tungsten. The carbon and silicon content are extremely low, which is to improve the corrosion of strong oxidizing media of C4 and C276. Although the corrosion resistance of oxidizing media is improved, the pitting corrosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance are not significantly improved. It has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and good resistance to local clothing. Hastelloy C22 has satisfactory corrosion resistance in many chemical process media. Since this alloy contains extremely low carbon and silicon, it is very suitable for manufacturing corrosion-resistant welding equipment, containers, and pipelines in the chemical industry without the risk of sensitization. The alloy has the ability to resist the formation of grain boundary precipitation in the welding heat-affected zone, which makes it suitable for many chemical process applications in the welding state. Mainly used in seawater, CH3COOH, HCl, wet phosphorus and pickling solutions using mixed acids. Manufacture of vessels, pipes, valves, pumps, plate heat exchangers, etc. Solve difficult problems such as uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion. It is especially suitable for environments with a large amount of chlorine and oxidants.

Feature

It has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chloride ions. It also offers optimum resistance to environments where reducing and oxidizing conditions are encountered in process streams. So it can be used where "upset" conditions are likely to occur or in multi-purpose plants. Hastelloy C-22 has exceptional resistance to a wide variety of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizers such as ferric and cupric chlorides, chlorine, hot contaminated solutions (organic and inorganic), formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater and brine solutions. It resists the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.
